About the project

Everything Possible, If Possible

For a long time, my grandmother and I only interacted within the context of family roles. Our meetings were ritualized, embedded in routines and structures shaped by family. It wasn't until 2023 that we consciously spent time outside of this framework for the first time, when she visited me in Italy for a week. This experience gave rise to an idea: how about taking a longer trip together? Was it just a nice thought or actually possible? The idea stayed with us. After some back and forth, we finally set off for four weeks in March 2025. Our destination was Capri, a place Inge had always wanted to see. During the trip, we had to learn to function together in a new way. Consciously engaging with each other allowed us to get to know each other anew. The space we gave each other led us to really listen, playfully shift boundaries, and change our relationship with each other. The photographic work addresses this process of negotiation. The joint road trip serves as a metaphor for an emotional and physical approach to something unknown. Documentary photographs are combined with staged, partly symbolically charged motifs and seemingly casual moments. I understand photography as an experimental process that enables closeness and opens up new forms of encounter. It becomes a space for exchange in which relationships can be actively shaped. Central questions of visibility, role models, and self-determination come to the fore within this process. "Everything possible, if possible" is an invitation to question familiar role models and rethink relationships. Because only through conscious interaction can a foundation for genuine connection be created.
