Under the Same Sun

This series explores the friction between the urban landscape and the queer body in contemporary Latin America. While the city is often marketed as a site of refuge and liberation, these photographs reveal it as a space of "reorganized violence, " where systemic pressures and precarity are redistributed rather than erased. The project documents the lives of individuals who arrived in the city chasing a promise of freedom, only to find themselves navigating a new set of conditions and rhythms.

The images occupy the "in-between" space where the private self meets the public eye. Moving through both domestic and urban environments, the work focuses on the body as the only true site of autonomy. Through the use of performance and fantasy, the subjects are invited to imagine themselves in front of the lens, reclaiming their own narratives from a territory of abandonment.

Using a methodology of "care, " the project avoids the voyeuristic trap of exposing vulnerability. Instead, it utilizes a deliberate, aestheticized gaze to protect the subject's intimacy. The result is a visual archive of resilience, an exploration of how beauty and dreaming persist even within the exhausting weight of the city.
